Privacy & Security Policy
Banglapapers is a Bengali news app that brings together newspapers, videos, short reels and story clusters from many sources in one place. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is protected, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, phone number, address or precise location. The app collects only the following:
| Data | Why | Collected by |
|---|---|---|
| App usage & diagnostics (screens viewed, taps on stories/videos, app version, device model, OS version, approximate region) | Understand which features are used and improve the app | Firebase Analytics (Google) |
| Push notification token and device identifiers | Deliver news notifications | Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) |
| Favorites, reading history and preferences | Remember your saved newspapers and settings | Stored only on your device |
2. How we use information
- To operate and improve the app and its content feeds.
- To send notifications about news you may be interested in.
- To detect crashes, abuse and technical problems.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not collect, access, store, or use any advertising data.
3. Third-party services
The app uses services that may collect data under their own policies. The app displays ads served by Google AdMob / Ad Manager; Google, not us, handles any data its ad SDK collects, and we receive none of it.
4. Third-party news content & web views
Articles open inside an in-app browser (WebView) showing the original publisher's website. Those sites are operated by third parties, may use their own cookies and trackers, and are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control their content. Cookies set by publishers are used only to display their pages (for example, to pass site checks) and are not used by us to identify you.
5. Permissions
- Internet โ required to load news, videos and ads.
- Notifications โ optional; used to deliver news alerts. You can turn them off in Android settings at any time.
The app does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, SMS, or location.
6. Security
- All app content feeds are fetched over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Personal preferences such as favorites stay on your device, in the app's private storage.
- We do not store passwords or payment information, because the app has no sign-in or purchases.
- We limit third-party SDKs to those needed for analytics, notifications and ads, and keep them up to date.
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Reporting a security issue
If you believe you have found a vulnerability in the app, please email us via the contact page with the subject "Security report" and a description of the issue. Please give us reasonable time to fix it before public disclosure. We will acknowledge reports and work to resolve valid issues promptly.
8. Data retention & your choices
- On-device data: clear it any time via Android Settings → Apps → Banglapapers → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
- Ads (served by Google): reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Analytics: analytics data is held by Google under its retention settings; you may ask us to help with a deletion request via the contact page.
- Notifications: disable in Android notification settings.
9. Children's privacy
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will help remove it.
